Heart arrhythmia symptoms
A heart arrhythmia is an abnormality in the heart's rhythm. The heartbeat can be too slow (bradycardia), too fast (tachycardia) or irregular.
Some symptoms of arrhythmias include:
- Shortness of breath
- Chest pain
- Heart palpitations
- Sensation of a missed or extra heartbeat
Types of arrhythmias we treat
Cardiac arrhythmias can occur in patients of any age. Some pose no danger. Others can lead to congestive heart failure and stroke. In fact, about 15 to 20 percent of all strokes occur in people with atrial fibrillation (A-Fib), which is the most common heart arrhythmia. A person with A-Fib is five times more likely to have a stroke than a person with a normal heartbeat.
We diagnose and treat all types of arrhythmias, including:
- Atrial fibrillation
- Inappropriate sinus tachycardia
- Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT)
- Ventricular tachycardia (VT)
- Premature ventricular complexes (PVC)
- Ventricular fibrillation
- Wolff Parkinson-White syndrome
