Oak Hill Hospital will continue its very popular For Your Health Community Education Series with a seminar entitled, “Advances in Breast Health: 3D Mammography,” on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm at its Graduate Medical Education Conference Center, 11307 Cortez Boulevard, Brooksville, Florida 34613 (on the campus of Oak Hill Hospital). The program will be conducted by Alene Wright, MD, Cheryl Whitman, RN, CBCN, and Michelle Ryder, RTRM.
Alene Wright, MD, is board certified in general surgery, specializing in breast surgery. Cheryl Whitman, RN, CBCN, is a board certified breast cancer nurse and a Patient Navigator at Oak Hill Hospital’s imaging department. Michelle Ryder is a radiologic technologist and radiologic mammographer. According to BreastCancer.org, about one in eight US women (about 12.4%) will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. If caught early, the five-year survival rate for breast cancer is nearly 100%.
Dr. Wright, Ms. Whitman and Ms. Ryder, all on staff at Oak Hill Hospital, will discuss the history of and advances in women’s imaging. Oak Hill Hospital offers state-of-the-art 3D mammography screenings, which can not only detect breast cancer at least 15 months earlier, but also reduces the chance of callbacks for additional testing, and provide less radiation exposure, less time in compression, and a system to reduce discomfort.
The presentation will be followed by a question and answer session. Participants are encouraged to prepare their questions ahead of time.
A complimentary hot meal will be served, and seating is limited. Reservations are required. Doors open at 4:45 pm. For more information and for reservations call (352) 597-6333 in Hernando or (352) 628-6060 in Citrus or visit OakHillHospital.com/ForYourHealth.
