Spring Hill, Florida (March 4, 2016) - Oak Hill Hospital announces the appointment of Edward P. Nast, MD, FACS (Fellow of the American College of Surgeons) as the hospital's Chief Medical Officer (CMO). Dr. Nast comes to Oak Hill Hospital from Arnot Health in Elmira, New York, where he served as Chief of the Department of Surgery for this multi-hospital system consisting of 500 beds. He also practiced cardiothoracic and vascular surgery.

Dr. Nast is board certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, and the American Board of Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, and a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians. He is also a member of the National Board of Medical Examiners, and is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Advanced Trauma Life Support.

Dr. Nast is a member of the American Association of Physician Leadership, the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, the Medical Alumni Association of the University of Maryland, and a past member of the American College of Cardiology and the American College of Chest Physicians.

Dr. Nast received his bachelor's degree from Emory University and received his MD from the University of Maryland. He completed general surgery residency at Georgetown University Medical Center where he served as Chief Resident from 1990-1991. He completed a residency in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery at the University of Maryland Medical System where he also served as Chief Resident for thoracic and cardiovascular surgery from 1992-1993 and Associate Resident from 1991-1992. He also completed a vascular surgery fellowship at the University of Rochester Medical Center. He is currently completing the requirements to become a Certified Physician Executive through the American Association of Physician Leadership.
