Oak Hill Hospital’s Orthopaedic & Spine Institute Has 16 New Certified Orthopaedic Nurses

Spring Hill, Florida – Oak Hill Hospital has announced that 16 nurses from its Orthopaedic & Spine Institute have recently been awarded certification as Certified Orthopaedic Nurses (ONC).

The following nurses may now use the credential ONC after their names.

This brings the total to 16 certified nurses since the Orthopaedic & Spine Institute opened on September 23, 2010.

To be a certified orthopaedic nurse requires a minimum of two years’ experience with over 1,000 hours in orthopaedics. You must sit and pass a separate exam in orthopaedics which includes trauma, sports injuries, pediatrics, oncology and other disciplines.

The Orthopaedic & Spine Institute held its ribbon cutting on September 23, 2010. The Orthopaedic & Spine Institute has 21 beds; 13 are private and the private rooms even have sleeper sofas so that a patient’s partner may stay. Other features of the new Orthopaedic & Spine Institute include lower nurse to patient ratio and lower aide to patient ratio.
