Categorical Program

First Year

PGY 1 residents will provide patient care in inpatient and outpatient settings under supervision of the Attending Physician. Each rotation will be in four-week blocks. Each rotation will be in four-week blocks, including:

  • Cardiology
  • Critical Care
  • Endocrinology
  • Hematology / Oncology
  • Gastroenterology
  • Geriatric Medicine
  • Infectious Diseases
  • Nephrology
  • Pulmonary Disease
  • Rheumatology
  • Ambulatory Medicine
  • General Internal Medicine
  • Research Block

Continuity Clinics: Throughout the residency, residents will participate in continuity clinics on a 4 + 1 model working in our internal medicine clinic with experienced general internists on the full-time faculty. Learn more about Continuity Clinics.

Research opportunities are available to residents, with introduction of opportunities to first year residents midway into their first year, and coordination of research interests and faculty mentors thereafter.

Our formal didactic curriculum continues through the entire three-year residency and includes an exceptional series of Grand Rounds; a formal board review conference with an extensive collection of practice questions; an evidenced-based journal club; weekly ambulatory conference, and related topics to round out a resident’s education.
