Benefits & Salaries


Current stipends for the academic year 2014-2015 are:

  • First Year Resident             PGY-1                    $48,295**

**Stipends are reevaluated each year and will be posted as soon as they are available.


Health insurance is available with a cost share; optional family plan can be purchased. Dental coverage is provided with minimal charge. Basic life insurance is provided at no cost; additional amounts may be purchased for resident or family. Professional liability insurance is provided at no cost. Special portable anticipated income disability insurance available at nominal cost.

Vacation/Educational Leave

All residents receive 20 calendar days of vacation. Educational leave is based on whether the resident has had research accepted for regional or national presentation.

iPads will be provided to each resident by the program for use for the duration of your residency.

Program will provide each resident with a copy of the Medical Knowledge Self-Assessment Program (MKSAP).

Residents will be provided with a book approved by the program director.

Career Support Program

With the combined efforts of the Medical School's Office of External Affairs, the Office of Graduate Medical Education, several of our well-connected subspecialty faculty, and the business expertise of our administrators, Oak Hill Hospital's Graduate Medical Education program offers residents a formal Career Support Program.

Those interested in subspecialty training will receive personal guidance and intervention to help the resident get the most competitive fellowships, even in the most competitive fields like cardiology or gastroenterology.

Residents interested in general medicine practice will receive help in identifying opportunities and reviewing contracts and compensation plans.

Those interested in other opportunities will receive help matching the expertise of the institution, the hospitals, and other local resources with the career plans of the resident. This effort will start during the first year with a formal meeting with the program director to develop a career plan, identify an appropriate adviser, and guide and assist the resident to reach his/her goals.

Enhanced Recruitment Support

Oak Hill Hospital’s recruitment efforts are based on our desire to secure residents who will share in the atmosphere of teamwork and professionalism that we strive to create, as well as the passion Oak Hill Hospital has for providing quality patient care. With that in mind, we interview and aggressively recruit graduates of the University of South Florida’s College of Medicine and graduates of other allopathic and osteopathic schools in Florida.

Those students who are highly qualified and whose professional and personal backgrounds suggest that they are a good match with our mission are also invited and encouraged to apply. We provide lodging for the Internal Medicine Residency applicants who accept our invitation to interview in Brooksville, Florida.
