Oak Hill Hospital, a 262-bed acute care hospital, has been serving the Nature Coast of Florida since 1984 and is the largest medical facility in Hernando and Citrus Counties. As one of the area’s largest private employers, Oak Hill is comprised of approximately 300 physicians, 1,000 associates and more than 350 volunteers.
Oak Hill Hospital offers Hernando County’s only comprehensive cardiovascular program, including open heart surgery. We were the first hospital in the area to be recognized as an accredited cancer institute and the first Advanced Primary Stroke Center to be fully accredited by The Joint Commission in Citrus and Hernando Counties. We earned the designation of accredited chest pain center with PCI (heart catheterizations) and an accredited heart failure center from the Society of Chest Pain Centers, and we were the first hospital in Hernando and Citrus Counties to receive these accreditations. Our Orthopaedic & Spine Institute earned the Total Knee & Total Hip Replacement certification by The Joint Commission.
With skilled staff and a dedicated team, Oak Hill’s Pediatric Emergency Care Center—the only one in the region—was the first hospital in America to achieve 100 percent Board Certified Emergency Room Nurses. Our Emergency Department is the only ER in America to receive the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing’s (BCEN®) “Honorary Recognition Award for Excellence in ER Nursing” in 2009.
With our state-of-the-art Orthopaedic & Spine Institute and Women’s Imaging Center, Oak Hill Hospital provides critical services to the community.
