Pediatric Emergency Care
Welcome to Our Pediatric Emergency Care Center
Our new Pediatric Emergency Care Center is where children can receive age-appropriate care in an “ouch-less” environment. With eight private treatment rooms, child-friendly décor, and child-centered care techniques, children can get the care they need without the anxiety they don’t.
The Area’s Only Pediatric E.R.
Our Pediatric Emergency Care Center was designed with attention to the small details that make a big difference. We provide care in eight private treatment rooms to protect a child’s privacy and accommodate family members. Our treatment and activity area is separate from the emergency area, preventing children from witnessing potentially alarming adult emergencies. If the need arises, a four-bed secure pediatric unit is right upstairs.
“Ouch-Less” Care
We do our best to minimize a child’s pain, discomfort and anxiety. Whenever possible, we use “ouch-less” techniques when delivering care, such as apply special numbing medicine to the child’s skin to reduce pain from a needle. Our child-friendly décor, child-sized furniture, and activity room stocked with toys, games and colorful artwork brighten the experience for patients and siblings.
Child-Centered Treatment
Because children are not just small adults, we use child-sized equipment, gowns, IVs, airway management tools, and other medical necessities. Our state-of-the-art diagnostics and technology delivers low-dose radiation at high speeds. We also use a medication management system that considers the child’s age and weight to confirm exact medication dosage. All procedures are performed under the direct supervision of an emergency medicine physician.
Nationally Recognized, Award Winning Emergency Care
We’re honored to be the only hospital in Florida recognized by the Emergency Nurses Association with a 2011 Lantern Award. This award recognizes emergency departments that exemplify exceptional and innovative performance in core areas including leadership, practice, education, advocacy and research.
Oak Hill Hospital is staffed with board certified pediatricians, emergency nurses and pediatric emergency nurses, so you can be sure that your child is getting the care that they need.
