For Your Health Community Education Presentation: "Living with Heart Failure"

Spring Hill, FL – Oak Hill Hospital has announced that it will continue its popular For Your Health community education series on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 from 5:30 pm to 7 pm. Andre Brooks, MD, will present “Living Successfully with Heart Failure,” at Southern Woods Golf Club, 1501 Corkwood Boulevard, Homosassa, Florida (in Sugarmill Woods). Dr. Brooks is board certified in cardiovascular disease and is on staff at Oak Hill Hospital. Dr. Brooks will present a seminar about living successfully with heart failure.
He will cover the indications, diagnoses, medications, and traditional treatment options. Dr. Brooks will also discuss how valves function and the importance of knowing your Ejection Fraction (EF) number in treating your cardiac condition. The Ejection Fraction is the measurement of the blood pumped from each ventricle of the heart is usually expressed in a percentage. A normal heart pumps a little more than half the heart’s blood volume with each heartbeat. A normal Ejection Fraction ranges from 50-70%. An Ejection Fraction test is a simple test usually no more complex than an echocardiogram.
Dr. Brooks will also discuss advanced therapies, nutritional approaches, and heart supplements. The seminar is open to anyone with heart failure as well as caregivers and anyone else wishing to learn more about this major heart condition.
