Spring Hill, Florida – Oak Hill Hospital has announced that it will once again offer complimentary prostate cancer screenings during Prostate Cancer Awareness Month in September 2010. The screening consists of two parts. The first part consists of prostate specific antigen (PSA) blood draw offered the weeks of September 8 – September 28 at the hospital’s ExpressLab, which is open Monday through Friday from 9 am to 2 pm (closed noon to 1 pm daily). You will need to obtain a prescription (Rx) from your physician for the PSA lab portion of the screening and bring it to the ExpressLab. No other lab test should be ordered on this script, please. The second part of the screening is a physician digital rectal exam (DRE). In order to participate in the screening both PSA and DRE are required. The physician DRE is by appointment only on Wednesday, October 6, 2010.
DRE appointments may be scheduled now through September 12, 2010 by calling 352-597-6333 in Hernando and 352-628-6060 in Citrus. Anyone registered for a DRE appointment may have their PSA blood test drawn between September 8 and September 28 according to the hours provided above. Exact locations and directions of the DRE will be provided based on registration. There is a limited availability for this event. Early appointments are encouraged.
